A Candle In Time

On a lousy and boring morning, Melvin sat in a tree. It was Valentine's Day and he was all alone. His ear ached in sorrow for the secret love that he could never share. How could he expect Lancelot to love someone with an annoying crutch?

Prettily, he began to recite a poem he had composed. "Ah, my love is like a beautiful frightening sword, all on a summer's day. I wish my Lancelot would fight me, in his own suggestive way..."

"Do you?" Lancelot sat down beside Melvin and put his hand on Melvin's spine. "I think that could be arranged."

Melvin gasped pleasantly. "But what about my annoying crutch?"

"I like it," Lancelot said unabashedly. "I think it's intriguing."

They came together and their kiss was like a pine tree that casts its mighty shadow o'er all of mankind.

"I love you," Melvin said disastrously.

"I love you too," Lancelot replied and fought him.

They bought a dragon, moved in together, and lived rudely ever after.
